Even tried turning on with the battery disconnected and then reconnected as I read some 2015s have battery issues. I tried replacing the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU, and tried a couple different SSDs to no avail. I determined that it was highly likely a memory issue, and logic board repairs are definitely above my pay grade. I guess it's because of the APFS migration and I hope it'll finish one day. After a lot of patience and some hours of waiting the CPU usage becomes lower and the mdworker process comes up. I know I left quite a bit of money on the table, but I actually got the laptop from someone else for $30 knowing that it wasn’t working. It's because of the trustd process that keeps running on high CPU usage. If you choose Push, the account is updated automatically when you make a change on any of your devices that use the same account, or when someone makes a change to a shared calendar in that account. Select the account, click the Refresh Calendars pop-up menu, then choose an option. I could start the internet recovery and connect to the network, but it would crash after about an hour of hanging on the loading screen after entering the wifi password.

Sometimes it kernel panicked (giving an ACPI driver message), sometimes it did the 3 beeps instead of the startup chime. I’m pretty certain it was a logic board issue.
